Good evening friends and Kia Soul fans alike. I hope that your Monday has been great and a awesome evening to you all as well.
Over the weekend news came out about the 2014-2016 Kia Soul and all Soul EV's being recalled because of a not too strong enough adhesive that can fail and cause the steering pinion gear to separate from the steering assembly on the pinion plug & may lead to steering loss.
256,459 total Souls have been recalled & need the small minor work done by dealers for free with a stronger adhesive plus a reinforced bolt for added safety. Kia has always done the right thing weather a big or small issue with any Kia vehicle. Let's not forget too although the Soul's track record on recalls are very low and minimal among a lot of vehicles no car is perfect period.
Kia said the issue does not pose any harm and that 5 warranty claims since September concluded with a loss of steering power or turning direction where the steering wheel faces a different direction than actual driving wheels pointing.
The work will start on December the 22nd so owners be prepared for this small time-estimated but sure fix on a great vehicle. Problems happen to great people/brands all the time it is how you handle and solve it that is more important in the long run.
The actual build date of the recall starts January 18, 2014 through September 30th of this year. No accidents or injuries have been reported neither which is always a blessing. This recall is also in place for South Korea as well.
