That old bug known in the auto world as a recall has struck the 2014 Kia Soul with a total of 51,641 Souls being recalled for a possible steering gear failure which simply narrows down to a thread-locking adhesive used during the steering assembly that was improperly applied. It may allow the pinion gear to separate from the steering gear assembly causing lack of steering and a increased risk of a crash.
Souls from 07/21/2013 to 01/17/2014 are in the recall. It will be free as well. Letters are coming to Soul owners in the recall also.
No injuries so far and the recall is set to start this month. Please contact Kia: 1-800-333-4542 or head on over to your Kia dealer. The old pinion plug will be swapped for a new one with the adhesive placed properly. There are also three warranty claims linked with this recall.
I have no doubt that Kia is on top of this small mishap to such a great vehicle.
